Understanding Solar Energy and Benefits in Canmore
Canmore receives an average of 320 sunny days each year, making it ideal for solar energy. The region’s strong sunlight supports high solar power yield and stable return on investment. Solar energy reduces dependence on grid electricity and lowers carbon emissions.
E-2 Solutions helps Canmore homeowners and businesses use renewable energy efficiently through customized solar systems and continuous technical support.
Detailed Solar Site Evaluation
We start with a site visit. Our technicians analyze roof strength, orientation, and shading. Using PV(panel photovoltaic) tools, we measure energy potential and calculate system output based on your property’s exposure to sunlight.
Custom Solar System Design
Every location requires a unique solution. We design a solar array setup that fits your energy needs and roof structure. The plan includes panel layout, inverter selection, and connection points to support maximum power efficiency.
Installation and Testing
Our licensed solar installation contractors handle every phase of setup, including mounting, wiring, and final grid connection. Each system undergoes safety testing to confirm full compliance with Alberta electrical codes before activation.
Monitoring and Maintenance Support
After installation, we provide ongoing maintenance and remote system monitoring. Our local solar panel technicians in Canmore review performance data and handle adjustments if needed.
Our Recent Projects
CANMORE COAL MINE
View Details
A steep standing seam metal roof on the Coal Mine side of Canmore, looking straight out at the Three Sisters. Shingle hardware was never an option here, so the modules clamp to the roof seams with no penetrations through the metal, and the crew worked the pitch on rope access and fall arrest.
The finished array sits flush to the roof, so snow sheds on its own through a Bow Valley winter instead of sitting on the glass.
The household charges electric vehicles at home, so the electrical scope was sized around that daily load, not the house on its own.
CANMORE DOWNTOWN
View Details
A multi unit home on a tight downtown Canmore lot, with neighbours close on both sides and the roof in full view of the street. Most of the work on this one happened below the roofline.
A new conduit run was trenched along the side yard to carry the array back to the service, which kept the crew out of finished interior space entirely. The trench was backfilled and the yard put back before we left the site.
Module layout was kept square and symmetrical, because on a downtown lot the roof is part of the streetscape.
CANMORE FOURPLEX
View Details
Four units under one roof, and one wide plane to work with. The array runs as a single continuous block of all black modules across the broadest section, sized against the building’s combined load rather than a single household.
Multi unit buildings carry a steady base load every month of the year, which is what makes the payback on a fourplex faster than on a comparable single family home.
Module level electronics matter on this roof: the spruce at the edge of the property shades one row late in the day, and that row no longer drags the rest of the array down with it.
CANMORE MCDONALD
View Details
A Canmore home where the electrical work was the bigger half of the job. Our team reworked the exterior service run, mounted the disconnect and metering gear on a single elevation, and tied the new circuits back into the existing panel.
Keeping all of the visible hardware on one wall means the rest of the building stays clean, which matters on a house with this much exterior detail.
Every enclosure and fastener outdoors is rated for Bow Valley weather, from freeze thaw cycles to the wind coming down the valley.
CANMORE OFFGRID SHOP
View Details
An off grid shop on an acreage outside Canmore, with no utility connection to fall back on. Off grid systems are designed around the worst week of the year rather than the annual average, so the array was oversized deliberately and paired with battery storage to carry the building through short December days.
The shop roof offered one long uninterrupted plane, which let us build a single large array instead of several small ones.
Remote monitoring was part of the scope, so the owner can check state of charge without driving out to the property.

Are solar panels effective in Canmore’s mountain climate?
Yes. Despite cooler temperatures, Canmore receives strong sunlight year-round. In fact, cold, clear mountain air improves solar efficiency, making Canmore an excellent location for solar energy.
How much does it cost to install solar panels in Canmore?
The cost to install solar panels in Canmore typically ranges from $10,000 to $30,000 depending on system size, roof type, and energy usage. E-2 Solution provides free assessments and offers competitive pricing to make solar energy more accessible for homeowners and businesses across Okotoks.
Will solar panels work during Canmore winters?
Absolutely. Solar panels operate efficiently in cold temperatures, and Canmore’s winter sunshine is substantial. Snow can temporarily reduce production, but steep panel angles and the sun’s intensity help snow slide off quickly. Annual production calculations account for seasonal variations, and many Canmore installations exceed expectations.
How long do solar panels last in mountain conditions?
Quality solar panels are designed for extreme conditions and typically last 30+ years. Panels come with 25-year performance warranties. Canmore’s cold temperatures actually benefit panel longevity, though snow loads and weather are considered in mounting systems. Inverters typically need replacement after 12-15 years.
