What is electrification?
Electrification converts an energy-consuming device, system, or sector from non-electric sources of energy to electricity. It’s an emerging economy-wide decarbonization strategy that is beginning to impact the electric power industry.
Do heat pumps really work in our climate?
They sure do! When paired with solar energy they can offer a substantial savings over methane furnaces. Once temperatures dip below -30C they begin to operate at less than 100% efficiency, requiring a backup energy source. Typically, our customers will use their old gas furnace or an electric resistive heater in an air-handler to assist the heat pump for the few weeks a year we are below -30C.

What can be electrified?
Most Alberta homes and business have just a few gas appliances such as a furnace, water heater, fireplace, bbq and sometimes a stove. Most of the electrified replacements offer substantial improvements in efficacy such as heat pumps, on-demand hot water, and induction cooktops.
Can my gas line really be shut off completely?
Absolutely. The best way to save money on gas is to eliminate the administration fees altogether and have your gas meter removed. This does have some initial expenditure to electrify your existing gas appliances but the long-term payback is substantial!

When this isn’t available we can use various energy management systems to ensure seamless operation of your electrified appliances while ensuring your electrical service is never overloaded.
